President's Perspective

September 2014 was a good month; electronic members received their colored copy of The Bridge the first week of the month. The USPS copies were also delivered around the tenth of the month, so a record for both deliveries. We hope you all enjoyed them and are interested in attending some of the events

The Amazon tour scheduled for September has been rebooked with Amazon and more information is coming. HRC, SRC and GRC members will be on the tour; if you are on the waiting list another additional date will be scheduled. Like a Broadway musical? Sperry is hosting this event, but SRC, HRC and GRC members are invited to attend. Don’t miss the Oktoberfest, let Pat or Judy know that you will be attending this catered, fun event. HRC is ready for our Christmas Dinner/Dance function, now we just need you, the members to make your reservations with Barbara or Shirley so you can eat, drink and dance to the music by the Breeze. The day at the races is coming up and will be fun for all. The spring picnic is close behind and lots of good food and awesome desserts show up at this event, thanks to the members.

Once again, we are in need of an Editor for The Bridge and we hope that someone will see our ad for that position and come join us in October. Many positions have changed this season, a new president, new vice president, new data base administrator, and a new secretary. So we have some challenges upon us for this 2014 to 2015 season.

***News Alert News Alert News Alert*** Change from May Bridge Publication

We had some major issues with the location/place planned for the Christmas Dinner/Dance. The menu is basically the same, but the location has changed to the Arrowhead Country Club, 19888 N. 73rd Avenue just off of the 101.

We regret these last minute changes but did not think the planned location would be able to perform as you the members require.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Scholarship Program
Honeywell Scholarship

FOUR STUDENTS WIN HONEYWELL RETIREES CLUB SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Two new members were added to the Scholarship Committee this year. Joining Dawn Orgill and Frank Holman, are Gwen Scheetz and Wally Estfan. Many of you may remember Gwen as the Honeywell IAC Training Manager, and Wally as Director of Circuit Board Manufacturing at Computer Products Division

We are very excited to have Gwen and Wally join the Scholarship Team, and lend their support to this worthy cause. Adding members to our Team will allow us to dedicate a person to each of the schools. They will be able to focus on helping make the process easier and reduce issues our applicants might come across.

Frank Holman will work with University of Arizona, Wally Estfan will work with Arizona State University and Gwen Scheetz will work with Northern Arizona University. Dawn Orgill will continue working on overall processes and will act as backup for each school. We hope this new focus will enhance our partnerships with the schools and give students and parents a specific person to turn to if they have questions about the process at each school.

The Team is looking for your help. Our Team would like to hold a fundraiser to supplement the Honeywell Retirees’ Club Scholarship Fund. We are looking for ideas for a fund raiser that would be fun and something that our membership (and perhaps even active Honeywell employees) would like to be involved in. Like to golf? Interested in attending an auction? If you have an idea, or would like to volunteer to help the Team with a fund raiser, please let one of our Team Members know.

Amazon Fulfillment Center Tour

NOTICE! The Amazon tour scheduled for September 18 was rescheduled for 2pm Wednesday, October 22 because of forecast severe weather from hurricane Odile.

We will be requesting those who are slotted to participate in this first Amazon tour to reply and confirm to Ed Taschner (EdTaschner@cox.net). Those who do not reply will be moved to the second tour (not yet scheduled) and their vacated slots will be filled with people from our waiting list. Amazon regrets having to reschedule, but did so out of an abundance of caution, based on their flooding and commuting experience during a bad storm the week before.

Once we have completed this Amazon Tour 1, we’ll schedule the second tour
and open it up for the  waiting list and new participants. Stay tuned.

When you’ve got it, flaunt it!

Bialystock and Bloom! Two names that should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with The Producers! Mel Brooks’ stage adaptation of his own 1968 cult classic film won a record-setting 12 Tony Awards! The Producers takes no prisoners as it tells the story of a scheming down-on-his-luck Broadway producer, his mild-mannered accountant and their plot to produce the most notorious flop in history – making themselves millionaires in the process. Only thing they didn’t bargain for? Success! Get ready to laugh out loud at this “equal opportunity offender,” with songs like “The King of Old Broadway,” “When You’ve Got It, Flaunt It” and “Heil Myself.”

Coordinator: Lydia Gonzales - Phone: 623-561-1174 - E-mail: lcgonzales12@cox.net
